I’ll find any excuse to head to the big apple, I just love the energy, sights and sounds of the city that never sleeps! Last weekend I got the amazing opportunity to listen to the wisdom of the best in the industry, names you might recognise, Mandy Weiss, Slyvia Weinstock, Darcy Miller to name a few.
The event was held at the The New York Palace Hotel, a spectacular venue with amazing architecture. The day started with frantic outfit changes and lots of caffeine…aah Starbucks. Upon arrival I managed to make my way through the crowd and was able to snag almost front row seats …VIP does have it’s privileges!
After listening to the presentations and Q&A session which gave the audience of brides and other industry professionals an opportunity to pick brains of the panel which also included Matthew Robins, Peter Callahan and others. A gem that stuck with me was “No one ever regrets having a planner, you regret NOT having one”.
It was now time to do a little exploration, the vendor list was insane, every display had something you could have taken away…inspiration oozing from every corner and we soaked it all in. One of my favourite displays of the day was the all white food display, such an amazing and creative way to display food, the shrimp ceviche and white sangria were fantastic!
Lunch served in the gorgeous courtyard “al food trucks”… favourites like burger and fries, thin crust pizza and grilled cheese and tater tots were enjoyed in the unbelievable January weather. Frites & Meats, Gorilla Cheese and Eddie’s Pizza Truck totally hit the spot!
Up next, my absolute favourite part of the day…BRIDAL FASHION SHOW, did I mention I had front row seats? Kleinfeld delivered, the dresses were broken down into several categories, each stunning in their own right (we’ll save the details for an upcoming blog). The women were not to be out done, the men, rocked the runway big time. Claudia Hanlin even said, maybe we should have just sent the men down the aisle as the crowd went wild at the sight of finely dressed men…smile.
All in all, we LOVED our time in the big apple and we can’t wait to visit again!
Watch out for our next blog on fabulous wedding dresses.
